Topic: Forget the Past.
Today’s Scripture: “…I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead.” Philippians chapter 3 verse 13, (NLT). New Living Translation Edition.
MESSAGE : The year 2021 has come and gone, and so also the month of January, the first month of this year. Years have come and gone with many things they came with. Are you focused on forgetting the past? Many people don’t fully understand what that means. They wonder, “How can I forget something that’s happened to me?” But one definition of the word forget is to “disregard intentionally or to overlook.” What this verse is saying is that you have to choose to disregard your past that has gone, so that it doesn’t keep you from moving forward to your future. That means the good and the bad of the past. Even our past victories can sometimes keep us from rising higher. If we don’t let go of the old, we’ll never be able to embrace the new. It doesn’t matter what’s happened in your history, it’s time to forget what lies behind. Make the choice today to look forward. Trust that God has a better future in store for you. Trust that He’s working behind the scenes on your behalf. As you forget what lies behind and press forward, you will see the abundant life the Lord has in store for you!
Prayer for Today: Father, I choose to forget the past today. I don’t want anything to hold me back from the good future You have prepared for me. I choose forgiveness and ask that You help me by Your Spirit to press forward in every area of my life. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
Prophetic Declaration: Living in the past allows old doors that has nothing to offer to stay open, and new doors with many benefits to remain shut. Doors of opportunities and blessings shall be opened unto you. Ability to truly let go of what’s already done shall be yours. Wisdom to permit yourself to have a better present and a better future is released to you. Good things that are your heritage in the Lord, that you deserve and truly desire shall freely come to you. As you let go of the past, true happiness and joy of the Lord shall be your portion, in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
